KO ESCs

Older KO electronics were simply labeled KO (some said KO Digiace on the packaging), while newer (approx. 1983) were labeled KO Propo.

Read more about the various KO ESC’s in this article.

KO Racing Max RM-7 – Pre-FET electronic speed controller

This ESC came in 6v and 7.2-9.6v versions, and is of the older pre-FET type, and came in a plastic case with an aluminum inner frame.

In production 1979-
Minimum #turns Standard RS-540S motors
Voltage 6v / 7.2-9.6v
Continous 15A
Peak 20A

KO Racing Max RM-7 (v2) – Pre-FET electronic speed controller

This ESC came in 6v and 7.2-9.6v versions, and is of the older pre-FET type, and has a red amodized aluminum case.

In production 1980-
Minimum #turns Standard RS-540S motors
Voltage 6v / 7.2-9.6v
Continous 20A / 25A
Peak 25A / 30A

KO Super Racing Max RM-7 Limited – Pre-FET electronic speed controller

This ESC is of the older pre-FET type, and has a gold anodized aluminum case.

In production 1981-
Minimum #turns ?
Voltage 6-9.6v
Continous 30A
Peak 45A

KO Super Racing Max Expert RM-7 (RM-7EX) – Pre-FET electronic speed controller

This ESC is of the older pre-FET type, and has a black anodized aluminum case.

In production 1982-

KO Super Racing Max RM-7 Turbo – Pre-FET electronic speed controller

This ESC is of the older pre-FET type, and came with a smaller gold anodized aluminum case, compared to the earlier RM-7’s.

In production 1982-
Minimum #turns ?

KO Propo RM-7 480 – Pre-FET electronic speed controller

This ESC is of the older pre-FET type, and came with a smaller gold anodized aluminum case, compared to the earlier RM-7’s. This was also the first of the RM-7’s to carry the new “KO Propo” name.

In production 1983-
Minimum #turns ?
Voltage 6-7.2v
Continous 25A
Peak 45A

KO Propo RM-7 Limited II – Pre-FET electronic speed controller

This ESC is of the older pre-FET type, and is an updated version of the original “RM-7 Limited”.

In production 1984-
Minimum #turns ?
Voltage ?
Continous ?
Peak 43A

KO Propo RM-7 FET – FET electronic speed controller

This was the first of the RM-7’s to utilize the more efficient and robust field effect transistors (FET), something that can be seen in the specs.

In production 1985-
Minimum #turns ?
Voltage ?
Continous ?
Peak 450A

KO Propo CX-II RM-7 – FET electronic speed controller

The first KO Propo ESC to carry the CX name. This also still used the RM-7 name as well.

In production 1986
Minimum #turns ?
Voltage ?
Continous ?
Peak ?

KO Propo CX-IIR – FET electronic speed controller

Reverse version of the CX-II, but this time the RM-7 name is gone.

In production 1987
Minimum #turns ?
Voltage ?
Continous ?
Peak ?

KO Propo CX-I – FET electronic speed controller

The second CX ESC was actually called the CX-I, and came in a black anodized case resembling the case of the RM-7 FET. The similarity of the cases have probably led some to believe the CX-I and the RM-7 FET to be identical, but they are not, as the CX-I can take about double the load of the RM-7 FET.

In production 1987
Minimum #turns ?
Voltage ?
Continous ?
Peak 960A

KO Propo CX-4 – FET electronic speed controller

Don’t know much about this.
