The first issue of R/C Racing News (May 1981) has now been published. In this issue you can read about one of the earliest off road races at Losi’s “The Ranch RC Raceway” in Colton, as well as the “Mini Baja” in Reseda, both in California, of course. For the 1/8 on-road fans there is a report from the first annual “Southwest Championships” at “Vehle’s Pit Shop Raceway” in Pomona (still California), formerly known as the “Thorp Raceway”, and later to be known as the “Ranch Pit Shop Raceway”. There are also reports from some boat and airplane events.

The whole R/C Racing News & R/C News collection will, in time, be published here on dirt-burners, with the blessing of the original publisher Lou Peralta. I have most issues from 1981 to 1987, but a few are missing. New scans will be announced on Facebook, in the group “Vintage RC Magazines“, and only there. So sign up if you want to be kept up to date on new scans. There will be one scan published per week, and in chronological order.

Please do not upload the scans to any other sites or platforms, or remove any of the stamps or watermarks. If you want to share it, please do so, just post a link to the download page, where the latest scans and updated versions can be found.

About TomEG 74 Articles
I have been into RC cars since the beginning of the 80's, but have really never been much of a racer. I competed in some local races and some "Tamiya Cups", and actually came 6th in the Tamiya Cup Norwegian Nationals in 1987. My main interest has always been building and modifying, and that's where I still am today. Through the years I have been able to build a solid network of contacts around the world, consisting of both former and current members of the industry, as well as quite a few of the former top drivers. I have a genuine interest for the history of the 1/10 scale off-road buggies from the 80's.
