Here’s a treat for all you hard core real vintage off-road nuts, nearly an hour of footage from the first ROAR Off-Road US Nationals in 1984. Most of the other stuff I have posted has been focused on the Californian off-road scene, but this time we move all the way over to the other side of the continent, to Vineland, New Jersey. Venue for this first ROAR Off-Road Nats was the track ran by Ron Boorman of Family Hobbies in Vineland. Ron sadly passed away a month ago, and this video by Carl Ford was shared with Mike Mills through Ron’s long time girlfriend Linda Vogel. Thanks to everyone in that “chain” for providing this for us all to see, and thanks to Ron and Linda for running Family Hobbies for such a long time! There will be a more comprehensive article about this race at a later time, but enjoy the video for now.

PS. The video I received also included almost an hour of footage from the 1984 On-Road Nats. That part will be posted later.

I have been into RC cars since the beginning of the 80's, but have really never been much of a racer. I competed in some local races and some "Tamiya Cups", and actually came 6th in the Tamiya Cup Norwegian Nationals in 1987. My main interest has always been building and modifying, and that's where I still am today. Through the years I have been able to build a solid network of contacts around the world, consisting of both former and current members of the industry, as well as quite a few of the former top drivers. I have a genuine interest for the history of the 1/10 scale off-road buggies from the 80's.
